Seattle Municipal Archives General Files Index
The General Files Index contains descriptions of more than 3,800 documents in the General Files Collection housed at the Seattle Municipal Archives. The General Files date from the 1870s through 1905 and primarily document City Council's interaction with its citizens and other City agencies. The largest percentage of documents dates from the 1890s. The Guide to the General Files provides context to the collection and more information on searching the index. Development of this index and the Guide to the General Files was made possible by a grant from the King County Landmarks and Heritage Commission.
